Anita Bhattacharya

Anita Bhattacharya, President

Anita Bhattacharya is the current AID President for 2020/2021. She is a licensed interior designer in the state of Florida and NCIDQ certified. She holds her bachelors degree in Interior Design from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Her career has spanned working for Architectural firms in MA, NH, and FL in the Commercial, Institutional, and Educational market segments. She also worked for two major building product manufacturers in marketing and sales: Armstrong World Industries and Mannington Commercial. She has run her own company, Otrada Design LLC, since 2008. She joined AID as a member in 2018.

Shanna Middleton 
President-Elect, Systems/Technology/Marketing

Shanna Middleton graduated from Arizona State University’s Interior Design program in 2004. Since then she has owned and operated three businesses in the Raleigh/Cary area. From 2005 – 2014 she owned and operated “Real-estage inc.”, a full-service Realty and Staging company where she renovated, staged, marketed, flipped and sold properties. In 2014 Middleton opened “One of a kind find and design” A unique custom furniture manufacturing, retail store offering interior design and a complete line of customizable furniture and decor. In 2018 Middleton opened “Middleton inc”, a full-service interior design firm specializing in remodeling and new construction projects. Middleton is a major dog lover (obsessed really), and for fun she and her husband buy, renovate and enjoy investment vacation properties.

Jean Ehmke
Immediate Past President

Jean Ehmke has served as the AID Treasurer, President Elect, President, and is now completing her service as the Immediate Past President. Jean’s business career started after graduating from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering. She spent many years in the fire protection field working her way up to a Director of Sales position. She later owned a company that manufactured voice activated systems which she sold after a move to Raleigh where she enrolled at Meredith College and achieved her degree in Interior Design. She became interested in kitchen and bat design and made that her focus. After working for a local kitchen and bath company for six years, she opened up her own company, JeanE Kitchen and Bath Design. She has recently moved to Plano, TX to be closer to her family. While in Raleigh, she was a member of the Business Leaders Club and the National Association of Women Business Owners. She also volunteered with the Assistance League of the Triangle Area. Jean enjoys hiking, skiing, scuba diving, travel, and playing with her five granddaughters.

Roxanne Marsh, Treasurer

Roxanne has been a member of the Alliance of Interior Designers since 2013 and is currently beginning her 3rd term on the Executive Board, serving as Treasurer. She holds an A.A.S degree (Associate of Applied Science) in Interior Design and has worked in the residential design sector. Although semi-retired, she enjoys keeping up with trends and changes in the field through involvement in the Alliance and working alongside its talented Board members.

Cathy Marsico, Secretary

Cathy Marsico is the current Secretary for the Alliance of Interior Designers Board. She enjoys working with her fellow Board members and is proud to be part of a dynamic team that is developing new initiatives to benefit members. Cathy has an interior design degree and has worked on a variety of residential design projects. She also enjoys traveling, yoga, skiing and cooking.

Tonya Hill, Director of Membership

Tonya Hill is the Director of Membership for the Alliance of Interior Designers Board. A Graduate of Peace College and Meredith College, her quest is to make all things beautiful. As Owner of Opalus Designs, she stays on the go juggling a busy schedule of both Commercial and Residential projects. When not immersed in all things design, she enjoys time at the Coast, fine dining and reading. Her aspirations are one day to design, build and furnish Orphanages for those less fortunate.

Haley Reeg, Director of Communications

Haley Reeg is presently serving as the Director of Communications for the Alliance of Interior Design. She joined AID last year after winning the 2019 student competition. Since then, she has graduated from Meredith College with a degree in Interior Design and minor in professional communication with a focus on public relations and social media. Currently, Haley works as a designer and project manager for Interior Elements here in Raleigh. She enjoys assisting clients with programming, budget development, product and finish specifications, and install management.

Andrea Bachi, Director of Education

Andrea Bachi is beginning her second term on the Executive Board, serving as the Education Chair. She holds a BS in Interior Design from East Carolina University. She is a professor and Program Director of the Interior Design Department at Wake Technical Community College. Andrea’s passion for learning led her to teaching. Wanting to continue her education she is also currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Andrea’s most favorite past time is spending time with her two children, along with cooking, painting, reading and watching cooking competition shows.


Heather Jennings, Director of Partners

Heather Jennings is a Raleigh-based health and wellness commercial designer focusing on innovative work spaces. Her passion is to educate her clients on the importance of bringing key design elements into the workspace that influence creativity including natural materials/light, plants, defining color and spacial set-ups that are proven to increase productivity. Heather is a graduate of Parsons School of Design and lived and designed in New York City for many years prior to settling down and starting a family in Raleigh. She currently lives in downtown Raleigh with her partner and three children.

Don Ricardo, Director of Programs

Recognized for his use of lush layered bedding and sumptuous textiles in home décor, Don Ricardo Massenburg seeks to show that although interior design is considered a luxury service, it can be attainable to everyone. Don Ricardo’s love for textiles, art, furniture, and anything bold and creative fuels his passion for interior design. DESiGN iNKREDiBLE LLC is a highly sought-after interior design company based in Durham, North Carolina. The company’s portfolio is packed with projects featured by several major retailers and publications.
